EDUCATIONAL POLICY

An educational policy is a binding guide, enforceable and enforced by the educational constituency responsible for its formulation. It is adopted to through collegial agreement which acknowledges the conflicting interests and desires of all those who will be affected by it.

2 MAJOR TYPES OF POLICIES


1. Public policies are those formulated by governments a. Domestic policies distributive, regulatory and redistributive policies b. Foreign / Defense policies are structural, strategic and crisis policies 2. Institutional policies the purpose of which is to govern the institutions management systems and operation practices

Organizational policies are those which gives unified

direction to the whole institution whether it is a university, business establishment and the like. Program policies are those which give direction to the institutional programs while supportive to organizational policies. Project policies are those which give direction to the institutional projects while supportive of program policies

In context, policies can be classified as:


1. Major policies 2. Derivative or supporting policies 3. Minor policies

MAJOR POLICIES are those that gives a unified direction to an entire enterprise or those that gives the primary shape of an enterprise in its accomplishment of purpose DERIVATIVE OR SUPPORTING POLICIES supportive of or dependent on major policies and yet act as guides to thinking and action while giving support to unified planning in certain areas MINOR POLICIES are those which may not be even be related to major policies
