The Caterpillar dumpers brakes

Brakes rear discs refrigerated by the 773D dump trucks oil

The Caterpillar brakes on multiple disks, cooled by oil pressure are refrigerated to continuously providing a capacity for braking and delay and fatigue resistance, exceptional. The Automatic Control of retarder and support automatic electronic traction used the rear brakes cooled by oil to increase the performance of the dump trucks and increase their productivity.

Oil-cooled and design

Oil-cooled disc brakes are designed and manufactured to operate safely, without adjustments, providing better performance and longer duration than zapata and dry disk systems. A film of oil prevents the direct contact of the disks. This absorbs braking forces, holds the lubricating oil and dissipates heat, lengthening the duration of the system. The design of double-piston, patented by Caterpillar combines secondary and parking brake and the functions of the retarder.

functions
The main piston is powered hydraulically providing delay and service brake functions. The secondary piston applies Wharf and stays in the position of disabled by hydraulic pressure. Where hydraulic pressure fall below a certain level, secondary stroke applied by spring automatically applied the brakes.

features
The retarder system has a power of 1864 kW (2500 HP) in intermittent service with 895 kW (1200 HP) in continuous operation. During the delay, the engine works against the compression and cut the entrance of fuel, increasing the performance of the machine. Delay forces are absorbed by the wheels by which do not occur on the driving shaft tensions associated with the system of delay.

The Caterpillar dumpers are the following braking systems:

Parking brake. Act on the piston 1 Service brake. Act on the 2 piston. Retarder. Act on the 2 piston. Emergency brake. They act on the piston 1 and 2 and on the front brakes even if they are disconnected. Front brakes. They work only with the service if they are connected.(key in the table).

Front brakes
Front brakes discs cooled by oil (option). See photo above provide greater braking and control of the machine when working on slippery, slippery soils. The front brakes are standard, option involves placing cooling. Braking is distributed between the two axles increasing traction. When transport costs down are long, the reconstruction of the brakes is less frequent.
