If you put the character and verb (boss, said) at the end of the sentence, you put your comma INSIDE the quotation marks.

You have to create a new paragraph or line for dialogue when you are writing a conversation. Never put a ton of dialogue in one paragraph! See samples on the next slide
4. EXAMPLESPLITTING UP DIALOGUE
BAD I tripped hard in the hallway, books and all. What happened? Betty said. I fell. Ugh. I said sheepishly. Betty helped me up. Did anyone see? I asked. I looked around and already knew my answer. People were staring, pointing, and giggling. WHY? Because the dialogue is all in one paragraph and it gets too messy and crowdedit does not flow well. GOOD: I tripped hard in the hallway, books and all. What happened? Betty said. I fell. Ugh. I said sheepishly. Betty helped me up. Did anyone see? I asked. I looked around and already knew my answer. People were staring, pointing, and giggling. WHY? Now the dialogue has its own lines and it flows smoothly!
REVISIONS
Later on you will need to look at how you use dialogue in your narrative.
Do you use any dialogue? Add it! Do you use proper dialogue punctuation? Fix It! Make sure it is not all in one paragraph! Make it line by line!
