as a group of people that share a common set of values and norms: that is people who are bound by common culture.However,there is not a strict one-to-one correspondence between a society and nation. Nation states are political creation. they may contain a single culture or several cultures.

divergence is when a culture separates or goes in a different direction.

happen when members of a culture move away from the core values of their culture Usually because they have been exposed to new ideas.
FOR EXAMPLE

India

Aryan India was unified by a common Hindu

culture but the arrival of Islamic influences led India to become divided into Hindu and Muslim areas.

The tendency for cultures to become more

alike as they increasingly share technology and organizational structures in a modern world united by improved transportation and communication.

A no of factors have encouraged the convergence of certain aspects of culture among nations, notably-

Improvement in transport,communciation & a huge increase in the no. of pepole,who visit foreign countries. Globalization of media, with similar or even same television programmers & newspaper & magazines articles appearing in all nations. Similarities in the tastes & consumption patterns of young people. Adaptation of similar technologies in several countries, creating common work experiences & working methods.
