Read widely the content area under each unit utilizing books, journals, internet Consult widely on each topic including collaboration with colleagues Do all activities for each unit in the order in which they are presented Keep notes from readings, presentations, or activity work in a file as these can come in handy for revision for examination

From literature, colleagues, hospital visit and any other sources; Identify critical care areas at Kamuzu Central Hospital or any other hospital Analyze and identify the position of critical care in the whole health care system in Malawi Describe various types and levels of ICU and their differences

Understand the concept homeostasis, factors influencing it and the impact of lack of Homeostasis Identify and describe fluid imbalance through hemodynamic monitoring Demonstrate the ability to restore and maintain fluid balances Differentiate between the various types of fluid therapy

Identify and accounts for the various complications of fluid therapy including blood transfusion Analyze the legal and ethical implications of blood transfusion Analyze and interpret acid base imbalances Identify and prevents complications of acid base imbalances

Observe how advanced technological is prepared for reception or connection of patient on admission, transfer to and from the ward, x ray, theatre etc Observe how parameters are set and managed on the technologies according to patients needs Identify complications associated with various technology
