Course objectives
Sensitizing future management professionals on their role in environmental management and sustainable development

Create an understanding about ecology and ecosystem, paucity of natural resources and resource management;
Appraising about the major causes of environmental damage; Generate understanding on Environmental Management Systems, Environmental Risk Analysis, Policy Planning and Environmental Economics; and

Motivate them for developing successful business strategies for sustainable environmental management systems and inform the underlying ethical issues

Purpose & Objective:


a. Knowledge base Understanding and appreciation of environmental issues and concerns at large; Learning the role of the three basic components of ecosystems and environment and underlying causes of their degradation. Understanding the policy situation and the existing environmental conventions/laws Understanding strategies, initiatives and functions at micro, macro and global level. b. Skill sets Development of skills of utilization of analytical tools for environmental planning; and Development of sustainable planning for sustainable development of environment, economy and firms. c. Attitude: To build proactive, analytical and professional initiatives towards developing management policies and practices through sensitization of needs and requirements of individuals and organizations for sustainable development

Major learning and questions


At the end of the course, the students are expected to have acquired knowledge base and skill sets to successfully propose and defend a sustainable business model as part of the mandatory course project

Some Tips/guidelines for preparing Group Project Assignments

Review a research article (journal/ book chapter/ working paper) Identify a topic of interest for the project you want to work on Develop a database for the proposed project in consultation with faculty/ others Use your knowledge of trend line, correlation, regression, bar diagram, pie diagram, and growth rate for analyzing data. After presentation, the project reports will have to be revised based on suggestions at the time of discussion, and the final report will have to be submitted to the Course Instructor on the date notified. Your participation in discussions and the preparation of assignments will be given due weightage while grading scores.
