The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament is the meeting place of the two houses the House of Lords the House of Commons It lies on the north bank of the River Thames in the heart of the London This big palace is the most famous building in the world the British Parliament. The building is 280 metres long. There are more than 1000 rooms.

Big Ben is the name of the great bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London. The clock first ticking was on 31 May 1859. The bell of 'Big Ben' weighs 16.3 tonnes. The bell of Clock Tower did not stop working even during World War 2. Big Ben is the biggest four-faced, chiming clock in the world. At the base of each clock face is a Latin inscription, in gilt letters. It reads DOMINE SALVAM FAC REGINAM NOSTRAM VICTORIAM PRIMAM, which means "O Lord, keep safe our Queen Victoria the First". It celebrated its 150th anniversary in May 2009.

Buckingham Palace, which is located in the City of Westminster in London, is the official residence and office of the British monarch. The Palace measures 108 meters by 120 meters, is 24 meters high and contains over 77,000 m2 of floor space. Nowadays here is the house of Queen Elisabeth II.

Trafalgar Square is one of the most beautiful and famous squares in the world. It has been a central meeting place since the Middle Ages. There is the tall Nelson's Column At the center of the square. It was built to commemorate the victory of Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson over the French fleet at the Battle of Trafalgar on the 21st of October 1805. The column is 52 meters high.

Piccadilly Circus is a famous road junction a square such as Trafalgar situated in the West side of London. The Circus is particularly known for its video display and neon signs mounted on the corner building on the northern side. The word 'Circus' refers to the roundabout around which the traffic circulated.

The London Eye is an extremely large passenger-carrying Ferris wheel situated on the banks of the River Thames. Its height is 135 metres and it is the largest Ferris wheel in Europe. From its top you can see the territory around 40 km. The London Eye welcomes an average of 3.5 million customers every year. It can carry 800 passengers per revolution (25 passengers per each capsule). Each of the 32 capsules weighs 10 tones Each rotation takes about 30 minutes, meaning a capsule travels 0.9km per hour.

Tower Bridge is one the most visited and famous bridge in London. It was named so because of its close location to the Tower of London. The bridge consists of two towers with two horizontal walkways tying it at the upper level. Its total length is 244 metres, Longest span is 61 metres. Tower Bridge is a bascule-bridge. The bascules will open to let ships pass through. Every day more than 40,000 people cross the bridge (motorists, cyclists and pedestrians). Also there is a speed restriction (32 km/h) and weight limit on vehicles (18 tonns) on the bridge.

Built by William the Conquerer in the early 1080s the role of the Tower of London has been as a fortress, palace and prison. One of the main reasons to visit the Tower is to see the working collection of Crown Jewels. There are 23,578 gems in the collection including one of the worlds most famous diamonds.
The guards of the Tower are called Beefeaters. The legend says that if the ravens leave, the Tower the country will fall.

Westminster Cathedral was built between 1895 and 1903. This is the seat of the Cardinal Archbishop and the leading Roman Catholic Church in England. Its bell tower is 84 metres high.

Westminster Abbey is a holy place. All English kings have been crowned and buried in the church since 1308. Today it is still a church dedicated to regular worship and to the celebration of great events in the life of the nation. Prince Williams wedding to Kate Middleton took place on April 29, 2011 in this famous church.

St. Pauls Cathedral is a famous building in London At 111 m high, it was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1962, and its dome is also among the highest in the world. Prince Charles and Princess Diana married here in 1981.

Founded in 1753 the British Museum is one of the oldest and most important museums in the world The museum exhibits vary from Egyptian mummies to Roman treasures

Madame Tussauds is a major tourist attraction in London, displaying waxworks of historical and royal figures, film stars, sport stars and infamous murderers.

Chelsea Football Club, a popular football team playing in the English Premiership league. Chelseas Stamford Bridge stadium is a great example of the grandeur and importance of the national game. Visitors to Chelsea FC can also experience the all New Chelsea Museum, an interactive tour into the history of the football club. through interactive and friendly exhibitions.

Hyde Park is one of the largest parks in central London, and one of the Royal Parks famous for its Speakers Corner, Diana, Princess of Wales memorial, Holocaust Memorial, botanical curiosity (Weeping Beech). The territory of park (total area is 1.4 square km) is divided in two parts by the Serpentine lake. In 1730, Queen Caroline constructed there an artificial lake. This park is a nice place to spend free time. People come here to relax, to walk, for public speaking and they also can feed squirrels. Hyde Park was the place for some famous rock concerts too.

Oxford Street is one of the most popular streets in London. Its famous for large quantity of shops. There are 548 shops in Oxford Street, it is Europe's busiest shopping street. This street is home to major department stores. Here you can find a lot of different famous brands, such as Selfridges, John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, H&M, Zara, Adidas, Nike Wallis, Gap, Mexx and many others. Each Christmas the street is decorated with bright festive lights. Every year the lights are turned on by a celebrity and they last until January 6.
