Thompsons Second Grade Class

Welcome Parents!

Welcome to Parent Night 2008

To waken interest and kindle enthusiasm is the sure way to teach easily and successfully.

Tyron Edwards

My Goals
To give your child the academic and social skills needed to progress to third grade. To provide a supportive and fun classroom environment. To help your child make new friends and discover new interests.

My Education Philosophy
My philosophy of education is based on the creation of a learning environment that encourages individual growth and discovery. When children enter my classroom, I want them to know that they are respected members of our class community and that they each have something unique to contribute. The education setting should accommodate and foster the needs of every child. It is in the hands of the teacher to determine how each child learns best and to provide the appropriate experience. I also feel that it is essential to include all networks into the education of children as often as possible; teacher, family, administration, and community. Open communication, an open door policy, and opportunities to share experiences with children are all ways that these networks make the education experience enjoyable. Children should feel safe within their learning community. By providing a community that encourages risk taking, exploration, and individuality, teachers help to mold competent, sovereign leaders of tomorrow.

Breakfast and Lunch

Lunch Lunch costs $1.75 per day, $8.25 (purchased only on Monday morning, cash only) for the whole week, or $33.00 for the month. At 7:45 the children may come to the classroom. The morning song Im So Glad will play over the intercom at three minutes til eight as a reminder to get to class. A child is tardy after the song ends unless notified by the office.
