Inclusion
A term that describes services that places students with disabilities in a general education classroom with appropriate support services. Student may receive instruction from both the special education and general education teacher (Understanding Special Education, 2013).

Informal Assessments
A procedure for obtaining information that can be used to make judgments about a students learning (Education.com, 2013). Some examples of informal assessments are observations and checklists.

Mentoring

According to the dictionary a mentor is a wise and trusted teacher and can be an influential supporter. Mentoring is when a mentee is being mentoring by a mentor to enhance areas that need to be developed.

Cooperative Learning
A learning method that students learn by small groups usually with a goal of completing a specific task.

Charter School
A charter school is a tax supported establishment by a charter between a school district and an outside group which operates without most local or state educational regulations to achieve set goals.

Standards
Standards are divided into Common Core standards, Performance standards, and Content standards. The U.S. has academic standards that are public statements about what students should know and be able to do.

Blooms Taxonomy

Blooms Taxonomy refers to a hierarchy of question stems that teachers use to guide their students through the learning process.

Inquiry Instruction
Inquiry Based Instruction describes approaches that lead to learning that are based on investigation of questions, scenarios, or problems that are often assisted by the teacher. (Inquiry-Based Learning, 2013)

Assessment
Black & Dylan (1998) state assessment refers to activities that teachers use to help students learn and gauge their process. There are different types of assessment: formative, summative, objective, subjective, criterionreferenced, and normreferenced.

Portfolio Assessment

Annie Mulligan describes the term portfolio assessment as a term used to describe a collection of work over a time, so that teachers and parents can view a students progression in a given content area.

Lesson Plans
A lesson plan is a detailed description of the course of instruction in one subject or class (O'Bannon, 2008). A lesson plan is developed by the teacher to them guide what the instruction should be for that day or week.

Scoring Rubric

Scoring rubrics have a set criteria and standards that are linked to learning objectives and is used to assess or communicate about performance (Goodrich, 1996).

Tenure
Educational tenure refers to an employment status that teachers earn after successful fulfilling the requirements of probationary period (Lewis, 2013).

Assistive Technology
Assistive technology is devices that allow the successful inclusion of students with disabilities into the general education classroom. (Ray, 2013)

Voucher
School Vouchers are aimed at improving education for low income children by providing tuition that can be used at public and private schools. It is also used at given parents a choice of schools and approaches (School Voucher, 2013).

ELL
ELL is a term for English Language Learners that indicates a person who is in the process of learning English and has a first language other than English (ELL, 2013).

Normal School

A normal school is a 2 year school for training elementary teachers (Dictionary, 2013).

Standardized Tests
Popham (1999) states that standardized tests are administered and scored in a consistent manner. The tests are designed in a way that questions, administering, scoring are all the same.

Master Teacher
A master teacher is a teacher who has mastered the management of their classrooms and found a way to accelerate learning for all their students. These educators are exceptional communicators and have a strong connection with their students (Master Teacher, 2011).

Null Curriculum
Null curriculum is topics or perspectives in the curriculum that are not taught by the teacher and the student will not learn the material.

Direct Instruction
Direct Instruction is an approach to teaching that is skilled oriented and the teaching practices are teacherdirected. The instruction is small grouped with face-toface interaction in which the lessons are broken down and taught explicitly.

Emergency Certificate
An emergency teaching certificate is a certificate that is valid for one year and the teacher has to meet requirements to get their permanent certificate.

Pedagogy
According to Webster dictionary that pedagogy is the art, science, or profession of teaching.
