A battery is composed of one or more cells A cell is a setup of two different metals where voltage is allowed to pass through. By combining two metals of different reaction potential, a voltage will be produced.

Electronegativity is defined as an elements ability to attract electrons from a different element.

Ionization energy can be defined as the amount of energy an element requires to remove an electron.

The lemon cell that is used is powered by a chemical reaction known as reductionoxidation reaction.

Reduction is when there is an electron gain. Oxidation is when there is electron lost.

When these reactions occur separately, then the electrons are being transferred. This movement is known as potential energy.

The side where oxidation takes place is known as the anode and the other electrode would be known as the cathode. Thus, the anode is positive and the cathode is negative.
