MATTHEW BELLAMY

By Paris Bowers

Matt was born in Cambridge, 9th June 1978 and later moved to Devon due to his parents getting a divorce. After working on a caravan site cleaning toilets and becoming a decorator Matt met other musicians Dom and Chris and started a band called Rocket Baby Dolls, to which we now know as MUSE.

Matthew himself is a classically trained pianist and has been playing since the age of 6, after he was inspired by his dad who is also a musician. (If you listen to muse songs that are played on piano you can hear his classical skills i.e. Arpeggios, cadences etc.) Then Matt moved on to learn guitar at the age of 11.

Matt is currently engaged to actress Kate Hudson and have a child together called Bingham Bellamy, born July 9th 2012. Matthew and Kate both met at a festival in Australia and a few years later bumped in to each other at a Coldplay concert, months later Kate announced she was pregnant with his baby.

Matt himself didnt have an easy childhood he had to deal with his parents divorce not only that Matt Bellamys dad,(George Bellamy, former member of a band called The Tornados) became bankrupt which Matt Bellamy claims is the reason he wanted to be successful. NOW TO ENTER THE WORLD OF...

Showbiz, Muses debut studio album released in October 1999. A heavy album compared to their later stuff. Origin Of Symmetry, Released in 2001, of which most was written while the band was high on magic mushrooms in a hot tub and is arguably one of their best albums yet.

Absolution, released in the United Kingdom on the 22nd November 2003 was Muses first album to make it into the American charts.
Black Holes & Revelations, released in July 2006. This is my favourite album and is one of Muses best known albums with songs like Starlight, Kings of Cydonia and of course Supermassive Blackhole. The Resistance, released in 2009 is a very pop orientated album with most songs having a verse chorus structure and only a few simple chords. What was interesting is that matt used chopin nocturne in E flat, something new for Muse.

The 2nd Law, released in 2012 this is muses most experimental album yet with one of his songs containing a recording of his sons heart beat. Muse use all different genres in this album from classical to dubstep.

The NME Awards have recognised Muse by awarding them the "Best Live Band" award in 2005, 2008 and 2009; the "Best British Band" award in 2007, 2010 and 2011 and the "Best New Band" award in 2000. In 2011, they received three Grammy Award nominations, of which they won "Best Rock Album" for The Resistance, and in 2012 they received a further two nominations, for "Best Rock Album" for The 2nd Law, and "Best Rock Song" for "Madness"
