Your desks are arranged in 3’s.

This is your family.

Desk #1: Writer: You are responsible for taking

notes when we are working in groups.

Desk #2: Reader: You are responsible for reading

your answers/results out loud to the rest of the
class when we are working in groups.

Desk #3: Go-Getter: You are responsible for

gathering all materials needed by the group and
to return the materials when the group is
finished.

You are ALL responsible for thinking,

participating, and cleaning up your own mess.
What
happens
if I am: As a family, you are responsible for the
other members in your family.

If one of them is absent, it is your

responsibility to fill out the
What You Missed sheet, staple any handouts
that go along with it, and put it in the front
of that person’s file.

Do not come to me for make up work. It’s

your family’s responsibility to take care of
you.

What
happens
You should bring your binder, textbook, and
if I:
pencil to class EVERY day.

If you do not have paper or pencil, check with

your family first. If they can’t help you, I will
give you supplies in exchange for a personal
item. This isn’t the Holiday Inn.

Late assignments can be turned in by the end

of the day for a 5 point deduction. If they are
turned in the next day, it is a 10 point
deduction.

No assignments can be turned in past one day

late.
How does
class start?

When the bell rings, you should already be in

your seat.

There will be directions on the SMART board to

tell you what to do.

We will be working every day. Do not ask what

we are doing. That is why I give you
instructions.
This year has the potential to be one of the
best years of your life.

I don’t care what grades you’ve had in the

past and I don’t care what kind of trouble
you’ve been in before.

This is a new year and we are going to have a

new start.

If you are willing to follow the rules and

procedures and try your best, this year will be
amazing.

Trust me.
How does
class end?
The bell does not end class.

I end class.

I will give you time before the bell rings to

turn in papers, get your things together,
and be ready to go.

When the bell rings, you are allowed to get

up and leave.

If you waste time during class, I will waste

your time after class.
How do I:
During class work or group work, the Go-
Getter in your family is responsible for
collecting and turning in the assignment
for all family members.

If you are the Go-Getter, collect all papers

and turn them in to the black bin labeled
with your class period.

During a quiz or test, you are responsible

for turning in your own paper to the black
bin labeled with your class period.

If it is not in the bin, I am not responsible!

Each person has a job to complete. You will
receive an individual grade and a family
grade. Your family will evaluate how well you
participated.

Everyone should contribute to the assignment.

If one person in your family sucks it up, the
rest of the family will not be penalized.

Mostly you will work within your family.

Occasionally I will put more than one family
together.

If you have a question, ask everyone in your

group before asking me.
Your binder is your Math Bible.

You will use it, study it, love it, cherish it, and
most importantly, organize it.

The very first page should be a copy of the

class discipline plan signed by you, me, and
your momma (or your daddy).

Next should be your first tabbed divider

labeled Notes. This is where you will keep the
handouts we do in class.

The next divider should be labeled

Homework. This is where you will keep
homework assignments unless you turn them
in. Graded homework returns here.
Your third divider should be labeled Group
Work. All the work you do as a group should
be kept here. Once you turn it in and it’s
graded, it should return here.

The fourth divider is labeled Graded

Assessments. No, you cannot abbreviate! You
should keep all quizzes and tests here after
they have been graded.

The fifth divider should be labeled Other. This

is for other randomness that doesn’t go into
any other category.

After the last divider is where you should

keep your loose-leaf paper.
Start the heading on the first line of your
paper, all the way to the right.
