Chapec climate
Chapec has a strong winter, frequently very dry, mainly in June, July and August, with temperatures between 1C to 10C. So bring your coats! The nights are really cold, sometimes negative temperatures! Nevertheless, we don't have snow. In the summer December to February the temperatures are really high, with a bright sun. Sometimes we have summer rains, but it passes quickly. Swimming suits are useful. So are the sun blocks! The Spring and Autumn are the best seasons to visit Chapec, because of the mild temperatures, 15C to 25C. So you can walk and do your activities with a pleasant temperature, with a fresh breeze. We are approximately 670 meters above the sea. The city is bathed by the rivers Uruguay and Irani. Also important is the Lajeado So Jos, the city water supply.

Enoss Bertaso Municipal airport; flights mainly to So Paulo, Florianpolis e Curitiba. Others destinations have several scales.

Transportation
In the city, you can ride by bus or in a cab.

There are 24 bus lines, to all areas in the city. You can see the routes and schedule here: http://avchap.com.br/horarios.php?publi co or http://www.tiquin.com.br/linhas.htm. The ticket costs R$ 2,40. But if you have the transportation card, you can credit the tickets for R$2,03. To get a cab you can call +55 49 3322 5680 and ask them to pick you up anywhere in town. It will cost you R$4,00 + R$2,80 per km during the day; or R$4,00 + R$3,10 per km during the night. After late hours, buses do not ride, so the most common used (and almost the only) transportation is private taxi.

Cost of living
Do not forget to bring money for personal expenses, like food, souvenirs and traveling. If you change money in a bank remember to keep the receipt from the transaction. The most important meals

Breakfast: To drink: milk (maybe with chocolate powder) or coffee (can

be with milk). To eat: bread, loaf, fruits, cereals, cookies, fruit-jelly it is considered a light meal. We aren't used to eat meat/eggs in the morning. Lunch: Generally the heaviest meal of the day. You'll usually eat rice and beans, alongside meat, salad, pasta and so on. Dinner: This meal differs from person to person. Either you repeat your breakfast or you eat something like your lunch, but lighter. Brazilians usually eat pork, beef, chicken (and other poultry), fish and seafood. Sometimes lamb or mutton is eaten. In Brazilian culture it is seen as an unhygienic attitude to eat food directly with hands. The city's water is treated, so you can use it to brush your teeth or wash fruit. For drinking or to make tea, it is better to stick bottled water, or clean the tap water with a filter and give it a good boil first. Look out for por quilo or self-service something like by kilo restaurants which, as the name suggests, charge by the weight of food consumed. These can sometimes be a good option for vegetarians once they often sell a large variety of salad. Elsewhere, however, restaurants may not offer much without meat (and may serve vegetarian dishes containing meat products), so be careful what your order.

Your clothes
In the winter you will need

hard winter clothes, whereas in the most part of the year it is used light clothing. Depending on the venue and the occasion, attire can vary from casual to formal. At work you can wear informal clothes, like T-shirts and trousers, and sometimes you will need to wear suit and tie (of course it depends on what kind of company you will work and if there's an important meeting or event).
