In July 2008, she signed a record deal with Hollywood Records. She also had a cameo in the Jonas Brothers music video for "Burnin' Up". During an interview with MTV in August 2008, she said of her future music career: "I'm going to be in a band no Selena Gomez stuff. I'm not going to be a solo artist. I think that I don't want my name attached to it. I will be singing, and I'm learning drums and playing electric guitar. In 2009, Gomez recorded "One And The Same" for Princess Protection Program as a duet with her co-star Demi Lovato, four songs for the album of Waverly Place soundtrack, and "Whoa Oh!" with Forever the Sickest Kids. which was released on July 23, 2013, by Hollywood Records. It is her fourth record overall, having previously released three albums with her band Selena Gomez & the Scene between 2009 and 2011. Gomez stated that the record was influenced by artists including Britney Spears and Skrillex. Musically, Stars Dance is an electronic album rooted in pop, dance and dubstep, while heavily incorporating elements of techno, disco, and worldbeat. Its lyrics discuss love and relationships, namely Gomez's highly-publicized relationship with pop singer Justin Bieber.

A Year Without Rain is the 2nd studio album by American band Selena Gomez & the Scene.
The album was released on September 17, 2010 via Hollywood Records. For songwriting, staffwriters were hired to write all the lyrics. The band once again worked with writers and producers from their debut, Kiss & Tell such as Rock Mafia duo Tim James, and Antonina Armato, as well as Fefe Dobson, Toby Gad, and Superspy. New contributions came from Kevin Rudolf, Katy Perry, Jonas Jeberg and RedOne among others. Due to the success of their breakout hit, "Naturally", the album draws mainly from dance-pop, rather than the pop rock sound of Kiss & Tell.

When the Sun Goes Down is the 3rd and final studio album by American band Selena Gomez &

The soundtrack album for the hit Disney Channel Original Series of the same name. The album was released as a physical CD, enhanced CD and digital on August 4, 2009, under Walt Disney Records. The album includes songs from and inspired by the TV series and Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie. In response to the soundtrack, Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic recognized Wizards for its "teen revamps of boomer classics that parents can enjoy too". He also stated that the album is "agreeable" and that Selena Gomez "inevitably stands out from the pack". However, Erlewine said: "the dang-awful version of America's "You Can Do Magic" by Drew Seeley is sunk by its hyperclaustrophobic rhythms, the biggest rearrangement of a tune here and easily the worst cut.

Kiss & Tell is the debut studio album by American band Selena Gomez & the Scene. It was released on
September 29, 2009 by Hollywood Records. Gomez formed the band as she stated she did not want to become a solo artist quite yet. Staffwriters were hired to write all the lyrics, as Gomez co-wrote one track. The band worked with several writers and producers on the album including Gina Schocks of the The Go-Go's. Their work with Schock received a warm reception from musical critics, most of which praised the tracks worked on by Schock. The album received mixed reviews from music critics: although the album was praised, several critics had a somewhat negative reception towards Gomez's vocal performance, in light of a critically panned performance on Dancing with the Stars, on which the band performed to promote the album.

Come and Get It was Selenas first biggest solo song which rapidly became popular, performing at music award ceremonies such as Disney Music Awards 2013, Dancing with the stars, MTV Movie Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Macys 4th of July. Come and Get It

This music video was very successful as the locations included complimented the song and the theme of pop. The Mise En Scene of floaty dresses was suitable for the music at times in the verses when its quite slow. The Indian dancing was choreographed well to fit the music, it was definitely an enjoyable music video. Light was used very effectively in all aspects of the video, it complimented Selena in each scene as did her hair and make-up.

Slow Down

Selenas more recent single Slow Down has a different music video approach, as her previous video included some brighter colours. This video is similar to Come and Get It with shots which are really bright (bright lights or outdoors in a bright field) and others which are in dark lighting (dark streets or Indian dancing in other video). The club scenes help paint the image of a party setting suitable to the song itself being club-like. The taxi, close-up shots help show Selena being a solo singer as she is alone for most of the music video. Rather than in her come and get it music video where he includes a male role and Indian dancers.
