Introduction
Gujarat

Refinery is the Indian Oil's largest refinery, with a crude processing capacity of 13.7 million tonnes per annum. Its facilitates includes five Atmospheric Crude Distillation Units (ADU). The major secondary units include Catalytic Reforming Unit (CRU), Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU), Diesel Hydro Desulphurization Unit (DHDS), Motor Spirit Quality Upgradation Unit (MSQU), and Hydrocracking Unit.
The

refinery primarily serves the demand for petroleum products in western and northern India.

The break-up of the various types of crude oil processed at Gujarat Refinery is as follows: South Gujarat Crude: 2.15 MMTPA

North Gujarat Crude: 3.70 MMTPA High Crude: 1.16 MMTPA

Imported

Low/High Sulphur Crude: 6.84 MMTPA

IMPORTANT UNITS OF GUJARAT REFINERY

1) Gujarat Refinery Unit-1 (GR-1) 2) Gujarat Refinery Unit-2 (GR-2) 3) Gujarat Refinery Expansion Unit (GRE) 4) Gujarat Refinery Secondary Process Functioning (GRSPF) 5) Gujarat Hydrocracker Unit (GHC) 6) Power Generation Effluent Treatment 7) South block 8) North block

Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit

The fluidized Catalytic Cracking unit catalytically cracks the Vacuum Gas oils from VDU and FPU to various high-priced Hydrocarbons. The Hydrocarbon vapours are separated into following products in Fractionation and Gas concentration section. 1.Fuel Gas 2.Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) 3.Gasoline of High Octane Number 4.High Speed Diesel (HSD) Component 5.Light Diesel Oil (LDO) Component 6.Fuel Oil (FO) Component

Motorspirit Quality Upgradation Unit

The

Motor Sprit Up Gradation project has been envisaged to produce 850 TMTPA of MS. The unit will produce both BS-II and Euro-III standard motor Sprit. It has a capacity to produce 450 TMTPA of BS-II standard and 400 TMTPA of Euro III standard MS

MEROX
The

word MEROX is derived from 'MERcaptan Oxidation It is the catalyst process developed for removal of sulfur present as mercaptans (MEROX EXTRACTION) and conversion of mercaptans sulfur to a less objectionable form (MEROX SWEETENING).

FCC GASOLINE SPLITTERS

The FCC Gasoline Splitter Unit is designed to split 550 TMTPA of FCC Gasoline supplied by FCCU in to following three fractions: Light FCC Gasoline (C5 70C cut) Heart cut FCC Gasoline (70C 85C/90C cut comprising predominantly of C6 components). Heavy FCC Gasoline (90C 150C+ cut)

NAPHTHA HYDROTREATING UNIT

Straight run Naphtha from AU-I and AU-II for removal of impurities like Sulphur, Nitrogen, Metals, Oxygen etc and for saturation of olefins present in it. The impurities in NHTU feed are catalytic poison to the platforming catalyst hence these are removed.
