6) The enlightened Attention 7) We must wallk the path

1) How does God manifest in us?

We are the Spirit (the reflection of God)

What is the manifestation of this divine nature in our daily life?

The Attention

H.H. Shri Mataji: The Attention is chitta and God is Attention Dollis Hill, 1980

Qualities of the Spirit (God):

Sat, Chitta, Ananda How much your attention has been enlightened is a different issue, but your Attention is God.

Dollis Hill, 1980

2) The pollution of the Attention

Our Attention is originally pure, like a white projection screen: unchanging, undisturbed.

Then our Attention starts to be influenced by the three Gunas: past, present and future Our experiences or our planning activities project themselves on to the white screen of our Attention

Our Attention is then dragged by these projections, generating a motion known as vritti

We immediately identify ourselves with these projections as if they were real.

Hence, false identifications such as:

Country, religion, social class, culture, age group, profession, ways of thinking, habits, tastes, temper, personality, .........

Sahaja Yoga......

Patanjali (4th century A.D.) Yoga Sutra 1.Now we describe the Yoga 2. Yoga chitta vritti nirodh Yoga is the cessation of the movements of the Attention i.e. the state of thoughtless awareness 3. In this state the Beholder rests in His own nature 4. In another state there is an identification with the movements of the Attention (vritti)

3) The Myths

Progress is retarded because you do not know that this Attention is the pure form and that everything that is put in this Attetntion is a myth.
If you identify yourself with your vritti - e.g.your temper then you are still in a region of false identification. Happiness and sadness are states in which you are still in a myth. The myth is still there. You must go beyond. Dollis Hill, 1980

4) Going beyond the Myths

Atma (Spirit) undisturbable and indestructible. It is only human Attention, seeking to satisfy its desires, that abandons the inner path. This is Maya. It was intentionally created. Without It Attention would never be developed. You should not be afraid of Maya, but you should recognize so that It may enlighten you. A cloud hides the sun but also allows it to be seen

Marathi Letter, 1975

I Not all unreality disappears with Self-realization. It can be removed gradually. If, with a firm determination you deny in your heart all that is unreal, you will achieve Self-reality in its pure form

Marathi Letter, 1975

5) Mastering our Attention

Nothing will be all right unless and until you develop the subtlety of your Attention. This subtlety develops when you remove your Attention from everything that is gross. Recede your Attention whenever it will go too deeply in a thought. Put all your Attention in the vibrations.

Bordi, ndia 1977

The Mastering of your Attention will start when you can see that all that bothers you is a myth. Simply throw all that away and understand that you are the eternal Attention, that you are the eternal life and the only thing that keeps you away from that is ignorance. And ignorance is very simple to understand: you have accepted a myth as reality. Simply discard it. It is all a myth.

Dollis Hill, 1980

For a Sahaja Yogi, the most important thing is to save his Attention. This is called chitta nirodh. Where is it going? It is such a precious thing to me. Where is it running to? Try to concentrate. Do not allow your Attention to be roving. Gradually you will develop your concentration. You may look at my photograph. This is the best. Concentrate, bring it to your heart. Let it be integrated in your heart. You are lucky people...

Assume your position, Lodge Hill, 1983

6) Enlightened Attention

Attention should not be limited by your attachments. Attention should be absolutely free, such that it may work automatically. You will be amazed. Even without paying attention, the Attention will work. It is something great to possess this spiritual Attention, which is nothing but love. It will simply act.You will be surprised to see how it acts

Guru Puja, 1999

7) We must walk the path

All that should not be understood through explanation. Only showing the path will not help. The path will be only known after we have walked on it.
