Definition of Tenses

Tenses is a form of verbs in English that indicate the time (present, future, or past) the occurrence of an act or event.

Look at the following sentences!

I eat meatball I ate meatball yesterday I have eaten my meatball I am eating meatball now

Definition of Simple Present


Simple present tense is a verb form most commonly used in the English language which is used to reveal the factual events and habitual (daily habits) or usual activities, plan or schedule.

Positive Pattern
Verbal Sentence Subject + Verb 1 + Object

Nominal Sentence
Subject + tobe +
Complement (adjective, noun, adverb)

Verbal Sentences
Subject + Verb 1 + Object Example: I write a letter She writes a letter You study English we study English They make a glass of juice He makes a glass of juice It plays with a ball

Note!!!
for singular third person (he, she, it) always add s/es on its verb. He drives a car she studies hard It eats some fish
Mr. Ridwan asks us to clean the room A monkey climbs up a tree

Nominal Sentences
Subject + to be (am, is are) + Complement (adjective, noun, adverb)

Example: You are diligent He is lazy She is a teacher My father is a doctor I am in the classroom

Subject + do/does not + verb 1 + Object I dont write a letter She doesnt write a letter You dont study English we dont study English They dont make a glass of juice He doesnt make a glass of juice It doesnt play with a ball

Subject + to be (am, is, are) not + Complement (adjective, noun, adverb)

Do/does + subject + verb 1 + Object? Do I/you write a letter? Does she write a letter? Do you study English? Do we study English? Do they make a glass of juice? Does he make a glass of juice? Does it play with a ball?

To be (am, is, are) + subject + Complement (adjective, noun, adverb)

Are you diligent? Is he lazy? Is he a teacher? Is my father a doctor? Am I/ are you in the classroom?

Time signal

Exercise
Read and Make the same short daily activity.
Usually I get up at 5 Oclock every morning. After I get up, I go to the bathroom to wash hands and a face. Then, I come to the bedroom to prepare the lesson. After that, I study English lesson. I open and read my books. Sometimes I write a note in my books about the lesson. After I study , I listen to the radio and clean my bedroom. I always sweep and mop it. After cleaning the room, I take a bath and be prepare myself to campus. Unfortunately, i dont usually eat my breakfast. Before I go to Campus, I usually practice English with my brother and my sister.
