The book
Melina, the thirteenth goddess who has got the leading role in George Katselis book The thirteenth goddess and the stolen marbles of Acropolis was part of both our cultural educational programs that were conducted last year in our classroom 1. Mythology
2.

The love of reading

We read about Melina and her beloved : Pheidias, Ancient Gods and Goddesses, Giants, Centaurs, Titans and Amazons. We decided to take a virtual tour of the Acropolis and see them with our own eyes!

We visited the Archaeological Museum of Chania and Mrs Eftihia Protopapadaki guided us through the building, the statues and other significant findings . Its clear that our little friend Melina opened new horizons for us

We even made our own history!

Amazed by Master Impression, a clay sealing which is considered as one of the most important finds of Minoan Crete, every child decided to make his own ring with its unique mark on it!

We actually decided to donate our collection to the Museum!

Our collection!

It is now exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Chania!

Back to the classroom

still troubled about the partition of the greek marbles and their transfer to the British Museum, as seen in the book, we discussed thoroughly about the feelings this action caused to us

We tried to imagine what the statues would say if they could speak!

Thoughts and feelings

No one has the right to own someone elses past We want the statues to return to our country where

they belong We are the ones who must protect our cultural heritage We must all act on the restitution of the Parthenon Marbles

We developed the book linguistically and mathematically

We had a Skype connection with the author of the book, Mr. George Katselis, and were able to take an interview!!!

We chose to use the book in our summerend of the school year celebration and decided to perform a play based on Mr. Katselis script

Our invitations!
