The Elements of Design are visual tools the artist uses in order to create the works art whether they be: paintings, drawings, sculptures, media art or the performing arts. The tools are: Form, Shape, Color, Space, Texture, Line, Value. The Principles of Design are shaping tools the artist uses in order to shape the elements of design into the forms for art appreciation. In other words, the principles of design takes Line and makes it into a word or a figure drawing.
