Microsoft Publisher
During term 1 we have been exploring the program Microsoft publisher to design and produce a variety of products I used a blank template to produce a blank template of all the cyber safety. The next slide shows what I have created.

SketchUp is a 3D modeling program designed for architectural, civil, and mechanical engineers as well as filmmakers, game developers, and related professions. A feature of SketchUp is the 3D Warehouse that lets SketchUp users search for models made by others and contribute models. During Term 3 I learnt how to use Sketch Up software to create 3D models of my choice. Once my design was complete I was able to use items from the warehouse to compliment my design. As a creative digital designer I enjoyed this task because there was a lot of tools that you could use to make whatever you were building.

I found the program challenging I found the program challenging because it was hard to use all the tools to make a nice house or whatever you were building other than that it was fun.

Information and Communications Technology ICT Teacher: Mrs Watt

Semester 1 Grade 5 ICT for creating
At Grade 5, students develop skills in using ICT for problem solving, expressing ideas, and presenting information to different audiences. Working in all areas of the curriculum, students explore a range of ICT tools (for example, basic editing tools such as word processing) and simple techniques for visualising thinking. Individually, students learn to process data in the form of text, images and sound to create planned information products, such as invitations, short stories, presentation files (for example, a Microsoft PowerPoint file) The programs the students have been working with this semester include: PowerPoint, Publisher and Google Sketch Up. Students begin to use manual (for example, proofreading) and electronic (for example, spellchecker) techniques to identify typographical errors and make appropriate corrections. They use criteria, such as the accuracy and attractiveness of their information products, to make judgments about how well they meet their purposes. Students begin to manage their files using simple ways of organising them for easy retrieval; for example, creating folders based on topics or forms such as stories, images, and projects. They are introduced to the simple security strategy of using passwords to protect access to their files when working on a network. This semester, the students have created an ICT Digital Portfolio where they save and store published pieces of work, multimedia such as photos and videos and reflections about their learning in ICT. The students are using PowerPoint to create their digital bank of evidence. The students are able to save their Digital Portfolio to their own USB and share their ICT learning with families at any time.

ICT for communicating

Students continue to develop their skills in using ICT to communicate knowledge by exchanging email messages with others. When seeking new information on topics of importance or interest in all areas of the curriculum, students apply a set of procedures (such as simple key words) for locating information on the intranet and the Internet. Using recommended search engines, students refine their search strategies to locate information quickly. At Grade 5, students use email (using the Catholic Education Victoria Network - MyMail suite), and websites. When emailing, they successfully attach files and they apply protocols for sending and receiving electronic information.

CYBERSAFETY
The students are regularly involved in lessons around Internet Safety. During Term 1 they were required to create avatars to represent themselves instead of a real photo on web2 tools and produce a document using Publisher to display important rules when using the internet.
