Developed as a showpiece of Lutyens' Delhi featuring a Central Business District. Named after the Duke of Connaught, construction work was started in 1929 and completed in 1933. Open spaces are provided in front of very block. In the centre of both inner and outer circle green open space(central park )is provided. Central park has good green cover. Designer street lamps are used. Central park act as platform for socio cultural activities. Central park is one of the reason for connought place people gathering.

Steps constructed of stones are used as sitting in central park.soft cover is there around the steps

Hardscape-fountain and street lamps are most attracting feature of plaza,fountain area act as focal meeting place.beautiful lighting of fountain and cathedral around the plaza is most attracting feature during night.

Within each block open spaces are there but soft scape in these areas is very less.even the hard scape which is there also have many shortcomings. Sitting provided is not enough as per the area requirements. Sitting provided are not comfortable ,so people used to sit on platform around the trees

Comfortable sitting is provided in ample amount which is a reason for social interaction . This open space is used as meeting point for near by area residents.it is famous point for lunch. The space is used by people of all age groups.

NOTE:-open spaces are there both in C.P. And plaza de armas but spaces in C.P. are not properly landscaped,comfortable sittings are also not provided in C.P.while in plaza de armas soft scape and hardscape is one of the most attracting feature .

 Connought place design is based on concept of european renaissance. Much of Connaught Place features Georgian architecture, painted white and has a manicured park in the centre

The space is conceived of as 2 concentric circles, creating the Inner Circle, the Middle Circle & the Outer Circle and seven radial roads. The inner circle of CP is bounded by a two storeyed building ring all around, with a colonnaded passage at the ground level. The double height passage with the massive columns on one side creates a strong axis of movement, yet at the same time creating a comfortable space due to its semi-open nature. A major disorienting factor in this space is that all around the inner ring, the architecture of the double storeyed buildings with their colonnaded passages is so monotonous that one cannot orient oneself in the space.

Plaza de armas is based on spanish architecture.cathedral with arches is the most attractive feature of place

Lavish architecture and open spaces add to the aesthetics of the space

NOTE:-C.P. is based upon radial concept,has colonnaded walkways and white faade.

Lack of public concern is there in C.P. people used to defecate the space. Paan spitting and garbage is visible near every coloumnand sitting area. Dustbins are provided in some specific areas only and where they are provided they are not properly used. No proper cleaning of water bodies in central park is done,it is done during the events only.

Plaza de armas is very hygienic place . Green cover is properly managed. People are concerned about the space. Dustbins are provided everywhere and they are properly used. Fountains and water bodies are cleaned properly at regular intervals
