Its literary meaning is Obedience and Reward. In the Islamic terminology, it means a collection of moral and ideological laws.

Human beings cant live alone. Human beings need a set of laws to live in the society. Human society attains perfection and excellence through following their Deen.

The legitimacy of Islam


Islam is the last of all revealed religions. It is perfect in every way and everyone can follow it. It is Deen-e-Fitrat.

Theology (Aqaed)
Set of beliefs that form our faith. It is obligatory for us to believe in them. They are Tauheed, Adl, Nubuwat, Imamat and Maad.

It is a value system that teaches us how to live according to spiritual standards. Like Justice, Piety, Courage, Honesty, Chastity, etc.

Taqleed means to imitate someone or adopt opinion of a specialist. We do Taqleed only in Furu-eDeen to get solution for practical issues.

Instinct (Fitrat): It is the inbuilt urge which is not taught or reasoned. Basic intincts of human being are: Jalb-e-Manfeat attraction of profit Raf-e-Zarar replusion from loss Shukr-e-Munim thanking the benefactor

Lesson 6 Tauheed and its Proofs

Tauheed means to believe in the unity and oneness of God. Shirk is opposite of Tauheed and it is an act of associating partners to God.

When you closely observe a meaningful painting you will immedately realise that it has been created by an artist. This universe is like a painting which proves that its creator is God.

All the prophets and messengers who came into this world never said that they came from two gods. Not only a prophet foretold about the next one to come but they all testified about One God with the same message. This shows that they have been sent by the same One God. 32

When Hisham bin Hakam asked Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (a) about the proof of Unity of God, he (a) replied: The continuousness of the Universe and the perfect design in the creation is the proof of Unity of God.

The Self of God is not different from His Attributes. For example: His Self is not different from His Knowledge.

Tauheed-e-Afaali God is the originator of all events in the universe. Man is totally dependent on God for all his actions. God gave us Free Will to make us responsible for our actions. With Free Will we choose to do good or bad.

Tauheed-e-Ibaadat None other than God must be worshipped. None other than God is worthy of worship. He is the One with all perfections.
