The response of the EMCP to a fault will depend on the set point programming ( OP-5 )
P03 Shutdown override for ENGINE fault
This set point tells the GSC how to respond to a low engine oil pressure or high coolant temperature fault. They are not diagnostic faults but engine faults. The setting are : 0 - for shutdown 1 - for alarm only

If there is an E present in the diagnostic code the ECM is generating the code, proceed to troubleshot using SENR1003 3500B Gen Set Engine Troubleshooting Service Manual.

This is a common fault when you have a 3500B using a load sharing module and the engine is not running (there is no power to the LSM therefore there is no PWM output to the ECM)
