A warm-blooded vertebrate animal of a class that is distinguished by the possession of hair or fur, the secretion of milk by females for

the nourishment of the young.

Mammals live in almost every Habitat . Some of them are listed here: Terrestrial:
Animals that live on Land. Ex: Lion, Elephant and Camels etc.

Aquatic: Animals that live in water. Ex:


Dolphins, Whales etc.

Animals that fly. Ex: Bats.

Arboreal:

Animals that spend most of the time on trees. Ex: Monkeys, Squirrels etc.

The basic body features of a mammal:


It consists of a head at one end of a vertebral column from which extend ribs to support the working organs and four limbs for locomotion. The vertebral column ends in a tail. Some species lack a tail, others lack apparent hind limbs and the skull is very variable.

Herbivores: have sharp front teeth for biting and strong broad teeth for chewing. Ex: Cows, Goats etc.
Carnivores: have very sharp, pointed and curved front teeth for tearing flesh and strong grinding teeth for chewing. Ex: Lion, Tiger etc. Omnivores: have sharp front teeth for biting and tearing flesh and strong grinding teeth for chewing. Ex: Humans, Bears etc.

Most of the mammals have four limbs. The two at the front are called forelimbs and the two at the back are called hind limbs. Some use all the four limbs to move while others use only the hind limbs
