APPLE SAMSUNG PATENT WAR

 Apple filed for patent infringement against Samsung in April 2011. Apple claimed that the Galaxy tab was a design copy of the ipad and ipod designs, specifically the pinch to zoom , swipe to unlock and the external design touches. The court then concluded that Samsung was guilty . The jury ordered Samsung to pay $1B to apple as compensation. The court later found corrections in the calculations and the revised bill was calculated in Nov 2013.

 Two trials were carried out in the federal court, California. Put together, Samsung owes Apple close to $930B in damages.

The two giants are now set to start a new patent infringement trial in March,2014 .
These include Apples patent for universal interface (like Siri) and Samsungs patent for multimedia synchronization and design.

This case involves new products-Apples iphone 5 and Samsungs galaxy S III.
