The machine operator must be completely familiar with and understand the operating procedure for the machine and the use of the special safety devices. Through trial and error, the operator must learn the numerous settings and adjustments of the machine for various types and gages of metal. Allowance formulas and other suggested rules are useful as a guide only. Practical allowances are determined on the machine itself.
