I- Project Brief
 Objective: Poverty reduction through
- Enhance the Capacity of stakeholders (VDC +
training)
- Improve living environment
- Strengthen Income generating activities
- Enhance the capacity of local staffs
 Project Location: Batheay district, Kampong
Cham province
- Sambo Commune: Chong and Tabaek village
- Chbar Ampouv Commune: Stung Chhveng village

1- VDC (Village Development Committee)


 Why is VDC needed?
- One poor household can do nothing to escape from
poverty
- Collective actions by organizations or groups are
stronger counteractions to poverty rather than efforts
by one household

 What for?
“Powers” to negotiate with outside counterparts
such as buyers and sellers
“ Voices” to represent their opinions to decision
making which affect to their livelihood such as
village development and administrative decision

“ Collective action” to escape from poverty cooperatively


as “A core- body” for solidarity of villagers

“ self- reliance village organization” to stand alone in


sense of managing capacity and financial capability
