THE GAZETTE OF PAKISTAN

The official Gazette of the Government of Pakistan, known as the Gazette of Pakistan, has two issues viz., Weekly and Extra-Ordinary. Each one comprises several parts. The Gazette of Pakistan(Weekly) consists of the following parts:PART-I Notifications regarding appointments, promotions, etc., issued by Ministries/Divisions of the Government of Pakistan and the Supreme Court of Pakistan, other than Ministry of Defence. Notifications issued by the Ministry of Defence.

PART-II

PART-III

Notifications issued by the High Courts, the Auditor-General, the Federal Public Service Commission and by the Attached Departments and Subordinate Offices of the Government of Pakistan. Notifications issued by the Minor Administrations and miscellaneous notifications not included in any other part. Notifications, etc., issued by the Patent Office. Advertisements and Notices issued by Corporate Bodies and Private individuals on payment.

The weekly Gazetted of Pakistan is issued on every Wednesday from Karachi. It is printed by the Manager, Printing Corporation of Pakistan, Press, Karachi, and 2 published by the Manager of Publication, Karachi.

THE GAZETTE OF PAKISTAN (EXTRA-ORDINARY) Notifications issued in the Gazette of Pakistan, Extra-Ordinary are arranged in the following order:

PART-I

Acts, Ordinances, Presidents Orders and Regulations.


Statutory Notifications (S.R.O.) Other Notifications, orders etc.

PART-II PART-III

The Gazette of Pakistan, Extra-Ordinary is printed by the Manager, Printing Corporation of Pakistan Press, Islamabad/Karachi, and published by the Manager of Publications, Karachi. It may be published on any day, including Wednesday. 3

The issue of a Gazette Extraordinary should be authorized by an officer not below the status of a Deputy Secretary to the Government of Pakistan or the head of a Department equivalent to that post. It can be signed by an officer on behalf of the approving authority but the name of the authority approving it should be clearly mentioned in the forwarding letter. Prior intimation about the issue of an Extraordinary Gazette should be given to the Manager, Printing Corporation of Pakistan Press, Islamabad.
Signing of Notification regarding appointments of Senior Officers: Notifications regarding the appointments of senior officers like Secretaries, Joint Secretaries etc., should normally be signed by a Deputy Secretary or an Officer on Special Duty equivalent to the post of a Deputy Secretary, while those regarding the appointments of junior officers or relating to rules, regulations and orders, by a Section Officer.

S.R.O. (STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS)


All notifications which are issued in exercise of the powers of any enactment, except those of appointments, should be serially numbered by the Printing Corporation of Pakistan Press, Islamabad/Karachi, before publication. The Ministries and Divisions are required to send all statutory notifications to the Press in the following form:To be published in the Gazette of Pakistan Extraordinary, Part______________. All statutory notifications are required to be vetted by the Law Division before they are sent to the Press for publication. Notifications bearing the symbol S.R.O. are assigned the S.R.O. number by the Press before publication The system of giving S.R.O. number has been introduced with view to facilitating their compilation by the Law Division. Cyclostyled notifications (with cyclostyled signature) should be authenticated by signature in ink and stamped before sending to the Press.
