Welcome

to my Project

POLLUTION
Pollution is the introduction of

contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse change. Pollution can take the form of chemical substances or energy, such as noise, heat or light.
The presence in or introduction

into the environment of a substance or thing that has harmful or poisonous effects

TYPE OF POLLUTION
Water pollution
Noise pollution Air pollution

Land pollution

WATER POLLUTION
Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies (e.g. lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers and groundwater).

Water pollution occurs when pollutants are directly or indirectly discharged into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds.

NOISE POLLUTION
Noise pollution is the disturbing or excessive noise that may harm the activity or balance of human or animal life.

AIR POLLUTION
Air pollution occurs when

gases, dust particles, fumes (or smoke) or odour are introduced into the atmosphere in a way that makes it harmful to humans, animals and plant.

LAND POLLUTION
Land

Pollution, the deposition of solid or liquid waste materials on land or underground in a manner that can contaminate the .soil

CAUSES OF POLLUTION
Human activities mainly include: Industries for various human needs - directly and indirectly Agriculture for food production and industrial needs Transport for mobility of human beings Energy for various direct human needs and industrial needs.

EFFECTS OF POLLUTION
1. Environment Degradation 2. Human Health

3. Global Warming
4. Ozone Layer Depletion 5. Infertile Land

Prevention of air pollution:

i. Using smokeless sources of energy like smokeless stoves, which use biogas, solar energy, etc. ii. Using devices for filtering smoke in chimneys of factories and

powerhouses.
iii. Planting more trees. iv. Locating industries away from residential areas.

v. Strictly checking pollution levels in automobiles exhaust emission.

PREVENTION OF WATER POLLUTION:

i. Adequate sewage and industrial waste treatment in sewage treatment plants before dumping them into river bodies.

ii. Recycling-various products should be recycled instead of dumping them into rivers, e.g., biogas can be made from city waste.

PREVENTION OF LAND POLLUTION:

i. Proper solid waste disposal like sanitary landfill.

ii. Using limited amounts of fertilizers and pesticides.

iii. Avoiding polythene bags.

Prevention of Noise Pollution

Construction of soundproof rooms for noisy machines in industrial

Use of horns with jarring sounds, motorbikes with damaged exhaust pipes, noisy trucks to be banned.
Noise producing industries, airports, bus and transport terminals and railway stations to sighted far from where living places. Community law enforcers should check the misuse of loudspeakers, worshipers, outdoor parties and discos, as well as public announcements systems.
