PRIORITISATION OF

IDENTIFIED HEALTH AND

HEALTH-RELATED PROBLEMS
IN A COMMUNITY
WHY PRIORITISE?
• In any human community, needs are
numerous particularly felt needs in
the developing world. However, the
resources are limited hence the
need to address the most pressing
first i.e. prioritization of these
needs.
WHY PRIORITISE contd
• Prioritization serves to rank already
identified community problems. A
problem is a deviation from what
ought to be to what id obtainable.
Problems could be described as
either health problems or health
related problems. This is necessary
because of limited resources which
must be wisely allocated and hence
the need for proper scientific and
thorough approach to put these
problems in a scale of preference.
CRITERIA AND SCORING
SYSTEM
• For today’s presentation,
• Health problems: HYPERTENSION,
HIV/AIDS, COUGH
• Health-related problems: LOW
LITERACY RATE, POOR POWER
SUPPLY, POOR SANITATION
• In ranking these problems, the
following criteria and scoring
system was used.
