Oil was discovered at Bu Hasa in 1962. First well was discovered Bu-12, started in 1962 and by 1965 the field was in production from the Shuaiba Reservoir, followed in 1971 from ThamamaB, and in 1995 from Thamama-F. The oilfield covers an area of approximately 600sq kms, comprising reservoirs formed of shallow-water limestone separated by dense limestone, located at depths between 7500 and 9250ft, known as the Thamama Group.
The oil is produced predominantly by natural flow, currently from 69-single completion, 137 dual completion, 10 oil producer/water injector, and 3 artificial lift wells. The oil flows via single flowlines from each well to one of three Remote Degassing Stations and onward to, or direct to, one of the four Central Degassing Stations . For upto-date well status, refer to the Bu Hasa Monthly Well Status Summary maintained by Production Engineering.

The Well Head is located on the top of the well casing string.
X MASS TREE is the combination of valves which is located on top of well head.
A Large Valve on the Xmas tree used to control the flow of oil
Its Mainly used for Wireline Activities and to take closed in or flowing pressure .
Surface controlled sub-Surface Safety valve Used to open or close the well by Hydraulic control panel. Placed in a landing nipple of the tubing string of wells approximately 150 ft (45 m to 75 m).High pilot Trip on 1000 PSI Low pilot Trip on 250 PSI (Emergency Safety Valve).
Valve is mounted on the X-mass tree assembly that protects flow of fluids against High/Low pressures.
