CODE OF DISCIPLINE IN INDUSTRY

To maintain discipline in industry (both in public and private)

There are certain rules to be followed: A recognition by employers and workers of rights and responsibilities of either parties as per the laws and agreements. A proper and a willing discharge by either party of its obligations consequent on such recognition

To ensure better discipline in industry, (management and unions )

There are some rules to be followed: No unilateral action should be taken in connection with industrial matters. The existing machinery for settlement of disputes should be utilized with utmost Expedition. That there should be no strikes and lock out with out notice. That they will have to promote constructive co operation between the representatives of all the levels and between workers. That they will have to observe the various stages in the grievance procedure.

From Management

Not to increase the workloads unless agreed upon or settled otherwise Not to interfere with the right of the employees. Not to use discrimination against any employees. Not to support or encourage any unfair trade practices. Not to abuse anyone. That there should be distinguish between immediate action and those were actions must be preceded by warning.

From trade unions


Not to encourage ant forms of physical duress Not to permit rowdies and demonstration which are not peaceful . That the members and employees will not engage in any union activity during working hours. To discourage unfair labor practices such as > negligence of duties > careless operations > damage to property > Interference with or disturbance to normal work.

Some morale sanctions:


Following steps taken by central and state employees: Ta ask the unit to explain the infringement of any provision of the code. Notice to the unit to set right the infringement within specific period. Not to give countenance in any manner. A dispute may not ordinarily be referred for adjudication if there is a strike or lockout.

CRITERIA FOR RECOGNITION OF UNIONS

Where there is more than one union, a union claiming recognition should have been functioning for at least one year after registration. A membership of the union should cover 15% of the workers in the establishment. When the union has to be recognized there should be no change in its position for the period of 2yrs. Where there are several unions in an industry the one with the largest membership will be

A representative union of an industry in an area should have the right to represent the workers in all the establishment in the industry. All the workers who are not members of that union might either operate through the representative union for the industry directly. Only unions which observe the code of this disincentive would be entitled to recognition.
