WHAT IS AUDIO ?
Connected with sound, recording and broadcasting of sound referring to songs , music, sound or voices.

Audio plays an important role in media presentation by : influence our emotion and create a state balance and harmony Create excitement, increase interest and shape the presentation

1) The Use of Audio Equipment in Teaching and Learning


Audio Equipment consists of :

i) Radio and broadcast ii) Audio recorder and audio tape


* Radio seen as part of a multimedia system * It is an effective tool to achieve goal of teaching and meet the convergence, perception and imagination * Able to give impression of certain situation or information through analyzing of what is spoken, sound effect or background music.

Disadvantages of audio equipment Limited to a sequence of programs that have been recorded Less pay attention if there is no close supervision Initial expanses provide audio equipment is high The production of audio quality teaching requires a period of time Difficulty in achieving objectives if students from diverse groups of achievement and experience Magnetic tape material requires proper storage

Easy available Can be used for group or individual Give verbal experience to students Provide a visual representation more effective than just reading

2. Recording Planning and Preparation


Some preparations are taken into account in producing an audio materials :
1. Script

-Introduction to the title -How information in tape can be matched with lesson plan -Specific fact -Overall information -Training evaluation -Proposed follow-up activities -Used in a publication aimed at giving continuity to the scene or lighting -Create mood to speaking in publication -Arousing the sympathy, empathy, tension, shock or grief from individual feelings

2. Music

-the high and low of the music must be accordance with the script - Sound effect serve to explain the length of the incident, symbolism and the environment The Delivery and Actor -Good personality and tone of voice -Language use in accordance with verbal style -Contain frequency rhythm, sound pressure and the acceleration speed of sound to difficult phrases -Adjusted with the audience casting -Basic equipment must have microphone and tape recorder -Other equipment is audio recorder, amplifiers, speakers, graphic equalizer and audio mixer -Publication of high quality audio recording is to optimize usability environment, recording equipment and materials, selection of presenters and actors and the creativity of the mixer -Provision of audio materials must be completed by using the User Guidance

3. Recording
Audio Recording Setup 1.Provide audio equipment such as: -Cassette tape, audio cassette recorder, microphone, power cord, extensions, technicians, actor and presenter, script, music and recording room. 2. Preparing the scripts -Script contains dialogue and acting instruction while publishing script contain commands actor dialogue, directions and instructions of music and audio part. 3. The Recording Process -Connecting the audio equipment -Sound check -Trial recording -Actual recording

4. The Recording Room


-A room with sound proof and non-echoing should be used to gain thorough audio recording from external noise interference.

5. The Position of Microphone


-Make sure the microphone distance is not too close to the mouth. -Avoid placing the microphone too close to the cassette recorder, amplifier or speakers. -When the actual recording is on process, it is better to lowered the sound from the speakers.

6. Recording on-air
-on-air is a recording made during broadcast -Tune the radio and add antenna if necessary -Enter blank cassette tape into cassette holder -Press the REC button to record -Press the STOP button when end -Tear the null tag to ensure it would not be recorded again -Write label and stick to the tape

7. Recording off-air
-off-air recording was made after the radio broadcast -If more than one recorder connection be made through the audio-mixer -Connect to the audio cable

4. Editing
Audio and Video Editing -The factor in using audio and video resources widely is the ability to
alter in digital form -Teachers are able to exploit the digital made to enhance teaching style

according to the presentations .
