In the Natures Fury Project, your team will:

Identify a community that could experience a natural

disaster
Identify a problem that happens when a natural
disaster occurs
Create an innovative solution that helps people
prepare, stay safe, or rebuild
Share your problem and solution with others
Projects Objectives:
What is a natural disaster?
Natural disaster that happens in the world (eq:
Flood & Landslide)
Think about how natural disaster affects the life of
community.
Lets Start! (1 Think about it)
Each team member share experience of been in or near
a natural disaster
As a team, take a look on the members list & talk
about it.
Work together to make a decision on choosing a
community (eg: Kuala Lumpur community)
Lets Start! (2 Choose a Community)
Learn about the natural event that leads to natural disaster
(eq: Heavy rainfall in Northern region of Malaysia)
What problems would it cause to its people. Is the
community always at risk?
How do people prepare or warned? Who provides the
emergency food, water and shelter?
How long does it take to rebuild?
Look for professionals that work around the chosen
community for better resources of current solutions. (eq:
Jabatan Bomba, JKR, Red Crescent & etc)

Lets Start! (3 Identify a Problem)
Innovative Solution one that makes life better by
improving something that already exists, using something
exists in a new way, or inventing something totally new.
Discuss how the solution can prevent a natural event from
becoming a disaster? (Eq: Construction of Flood Storage
dams)
Take into considerations:-
o What would it cost? What technologies needed to
make the solution? Would it be difficult or easy?
o Can anyone use the solution or only some people?
How someone could make the solution into reality?

Lets Start! (4 Create an Innovative Solution)
Once the solutions is ready, Share it!
Give a talk, create a website, build a fanpage in Facebook.
Perform a skit, act out a drama,
Create a poster, pass out flyers, write a poem, song or
story.
Your sharing can be simple or elaborate, serious or
designed to make people laugh while they learn.

Lets Start! (5 Share with Others)

To be eligible for Project Awards and advancement your teams
presentation must:
1. Explain the problem your team chose to research (including the natural
disaster your team chose).
2. Describe your teams innovative solution.
3. Describe how your team shared your findings with others.
4. Meet the presentation requirements:
Give your presentation live; you may use media equipment (if available) but
only to enhance the live presentation.
Include all team members; each team member must participate in the
Project judging session in some way.
Set up and complete your presentation in 5 minutes or less with no adult
help.

Lets Start! (6 Present Solution at the
Tournament)
You can learn more about how your teams presentation will be judged by
reviewing the Rubrics located at: http://www.firstlegoleague.org/event/judging.
Among other things, judges expect your team to:
Clearly explain both the problem and your teams solution
