Imaginary County

Public Schools
Educational Technology
Plan 2011-2016

Misson

The mission of the Imaginary County Public
School System is to produce high-
achieving students through technology
that addresses all areas of socioeconomic,
cultural and intellectual diversity.

Vision
The vision of the Imaginary County Public School
System is that our system will be world-class. The
objective of this technology plan is to support that
mission and vision at all levels. The goal of the plan is
to provide staff with the resources to evaluate data,
and to utilize results to develop effective instructional
programs and assessment strategies in order to
improve student achievement in all content areas.
Imaginary County Public School System is committed
to the belief that the effective use of technologies will
enhance the quality of teacher and positively impact
the learning process. We envision an education
environment that is rich with opportunities for all
learners to be exposed to the benefits of emerging
technologies. This technology plan is to allocate
instructional resources to ensure equity among all
student subpopulations.
Goals

Goal 1 - Provide students, faculty, and staff with
support for instructional uses of technology

Goal 2 - Provide support for administrative uses
of technology

Goal 3 - Provide support to parents and
community with technology resources

Goal 4 - Provide support to students, faculty, and
staff in receiving adequate access to required
technology to meet state and national standards

39 Imaginary County schools are
completely networked.

4080 instructional computers. Of this
number, 3862 are desktop computers and
142 are laptop computers.

1777 total classrooms, with a ratio of
6.54:1 students per computer.

Needs Assessments -Strengths

Imaginary Virtual School courses
developed and taught by certified
teachers.

Classworks supports standards-based
education by aligning content with state
standards.
Needs Assessment Weaknesses

Using technology in the classroom to enhance the
technology standards

Providing software instruction after the school day

Providing additional teacher training on effectively
integrating technology

Focus on providing additional computers for the
special needs students

Future Opportunities

Compile a list of curriculum software for
all levels of instruction within the county.

Integrating technology into the instruction
can assist in narrowing the achievement
gap between subgroups.
Environment

Blended Learning

Blended learning allows learners to use
online tools to communicate and
collaborate in order to develop 21
st

century skills that students needs.

Engagement

Integrating technology into classroom
instruction means more than teaching
basic computer skills and software
programs in a separate computer class.
Effective tech integration must happen
across the curriculum in ways that
research shows deepen and enhance the
learning process(Edutopia, 2008,
para.2).
