My family owns a college house in Pocatello. Most of my family went to ISU. University Clubs and Organizations MUSICAL GROUPS: Choral Groups Concert Band Jazz Band Marching Band Music Ensemble Pep Band Symphony Orchestra PERFORMANCE ARTS: Dance Drama Theater Musical Theater Opera Choirs Ensembles Concert Choir ISU's 60 to 70 voice mixed ensemble studies and performs choral music ranging from chant to contemporary. Orchestral, brass, and wind ensembles often join Concert Choir in performing large symphonic works. In addition to performing on the Pocatello campus, Concert Choir regularly schedules tours throughout the Northwest. Scholarships for vocalists are awarded on the basis of outstanding musical skills and are available to all members, regardless of degree program. Chamber Choir Chamber Choir is a select group of 20 to 24 singers. This groups size and repertoire demands singers to be of high caliber in their musical and vocal skills. This choir sings concerts in local churches, and on the ISU campus. In addition, Chamber Choir takes an international tour every two years. Recently, this choir has sung in Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. Womens Choir Founded in 1995 by its present director, Professor Kathleen Lane, the ISU Womens Choir has grown steadily in membership and quality. Camerata Singers Majoring In Music When you have Music Studies as your major there are many doors that open. Scholarships that werent available suddenly become available to you. Being the Choral program at Idaho State University actually makes you money while you are going to school. You have to audition and make it into the choirs but once you are in you can get scholarships and the University will pay you to sing. You get to do something you love and get paid. The Area Surrounding Pocatello, Idaho is a beautiful place to live. There are many things to do on your days off and college students will most certainly be entertained most of the time. There is bike riding, hiking, and rafting available in Pocatello along with so much more! This is also one of the safest cities Idaho has to offer. ISU is the 5 th safest campus in the nation. In the last year there have only been 37 arrests on campus.
