Human resource management is the management process
of an organization's workforce, or human resources. It is
responsible for the attraction, selection, training,
assessment, and rewarding of employees, while also
overseeing organizational leadership and culture and
ensuring compliance with employment and labour laws.
What is HR Manager?
Individual within an organization responsible for hiring new
employees, supervising employee evaluations, mediation
between employees and bosses as necessary, and general
overseeing of the personnel department.
What is Human Resource Management?
ROLEs OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER
Policy Maker: The human resource managers help
management in the formation of policies governing talent
acquisitions and retention, wages and salary administration
welfare activities ,personnel records ,working conditions
etc. He also helps in interpreting personnel policies in an
appropriate manner.
Advisor: The personnel manager performs his functions by
advising, suggesting and counselling. Personnel advice includes
preparation of reports, communication of guideline for
interpretation and implementation of policies , providing
information regarding labour laws etc.
Housekeeper: The roles of the personnel manager in
managing the organisation include recruiting, selecting,
employee surveys ,time keeping, wage and salary,
benefits and pension ,wellness programs maintenance of
records etc.




Collaboration: At all levels of the organization,
managers and HR professionals work together to
develop employees' skills. For example, HR
professionals advise managers and supervisors how to
assign employees to different roles in the organization,
thereby helping the organization adapt successfully to
its environment.

Recruiter: An HR manager's objective is to maintain
adequate staffing levels for a business and to fill each
position with the applicant who is most qualified to perform
the job successfully. To do this, an HR manager may post job
openings, test applicants, conduct or schedule interviews,
and attend recruiting events.
Trainer: Human resource manager uses innovative ways
of training to keep good people keeping staff up to
speed in their own areas and generally in the business
environment in which they operate.

Legal Consultant: Personnel manager plays a role
of grievance handling, setting of disputes, handling
disciplinary cases, interpretation and implementation
of various labour laws, contacting lawyers regarding
court cases.
Facilitator role In this role,
the HR managers help or
facilitate other departments to
achieve the goals or standards as
laid out in the HR policies of the
organisation. This will involve
training being delivered for issues
that arise in the areas relating to
people management
Mediator: The personnel manager acts as a mediator as a
friction between two employees ,groups of employees superiors
and subordinates and employee and management with the sole
objective maintaining industrial harmony.
Strategic Role :Human Resource managers is the one who
develops strategies to address long-term business needs. The
ten critical general competencies in this role are: Client
Engagement/Change Management, Decision Making,
Flexibility, Influencing/Negotiating, Organizational
Awareness, Planning and Evaluating, Problem Solving, Project
Management, Reasoning, Workforce Planning.
