Organizational Study at ITI Ltd, Palakkad

Introduction An in-depth study to understand the
functioning of an organization.

Scope The study is limited to the ITI Ltd located at
Kanjikode, Palakkad.

Objectives To gain an understanding about the
interdependence of various departments.

Industry Telecommunication Industry (Telecom
equipment manufacturing industry).

ITI Ltd has contributed 50 % of the present national
telecom network.

Competitor analysis done in 2 contexts:
In the context of products
In the context of services

In the year 2009, transition from products to services,
after products became obsolete.





Products Initially they manufactured Large Digital
Switches and Digital Trunk Exchanges (OCB), Printed
Circuit Board (PCB), SIM cards, MLLN

Services Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC),
Projects on NPR and SECC

Venture into Defense sector Satellite trans-receiver
and access equipment, RADARs and allied
equipment, weapon control systems, missile systems
etc.
Organizational Structure
There are a total of 22 departments in ITI Ltd,
Palakkad. The most important of which are:
Purchase department
Manufacturing department
Finance department
Human resource department

All departments have its role to play All 22
departments are important.

Interdependence between each and every
department exists.
Every department has its importance. The planning
department handles the planning of the materials that
the organizations need. Raising PR.

The purchase department handles all the orders
which the company sends or receives.

The inward goods store receives the items against the
order placed. The stores department deals with
storage.

The manufacturing department of ITI Ltd, is where all
the main activities take place


The product development department handles the
new product development within the organization.

The product support department does the work of
conducting Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC).

The testing department makes sure all the equipments
are properly functioning.

The money which comes in and out from sales and
purchases is handled by the finance department

company can go wireless.


ITI Ltd, can organize various motivational programs which
can boost the ability of the employees to contribute to the
organizational goals.


ITI Ltd. may make efforts to take up all opportunities which
come its way. Similar to what they did in the defense sector.
The Organizational Study has revealed so many
details about the organization.

It is evident from the functional analysis that all
departments work together in achieving the objectives.

The functional analysis and organizational analysis
revealed a lot about the internal workings and the
external projects of the organization as well.

Functioning of the organization could be well
understood.
