Communication

You might be thinking what am I talking about..

What we are doing right now is communication.
Yup you are totally correct.
But that is not only communication. today
together we will explore the word
COMMUNACTION.
Communication involves the transfer of
information or message from a source to
a recipient via a channel or medium.

Basic block diagram of a communication system
indicating various process in communication is
shown below.

Source Transmitter Receiver Recipient
Communication system can be basically bifurcated in
two types..

Both analog and digital communication takes place
through analog and digital signal respectively.

ANALOG SIGNAL
An analog signal is a variable signal which is
continuous in both time and amplitude.

DIGITAL SIGNAL
A digital signal is a variable signal which can attain
discrete amplitude at various interval of time.

Analog Communication
Communication taking place through direct or
modulated analog signal is analog communication.
Various places where analog communication is used.
1) In face to face communication.
2) Transmission in satellites.

Advantages :-
Easy to generate and transmit over sender to receiver.
Direct transmission of message is possible.
Digital Communication
Communication taking place through digital or
modulated digital signal is digital communication.
Various places where Digital communication is used.
1) Mobile phones.
2) Computers.
3) Wi-Fi. And much more.

Advantage:-
Very much immune to noise so almost exact information
can be decoded back.
Can be produced through sampling of analog signal.
Advantages and Disadvantages.

Analog Digital
Requires less band width for
transmission.
Requires more band width for
transmission.
Used for long distance
transmission without modulation.
Modulation is necessary for long
distance transmission.
Prone to noise. Effect of noise is very less.
Used in satellite transmission and
various others.
Used in mobile communication
and much many other
applications.
Communication is an integral part of life.

Even the deaf and dumbs communicate in
there own way. Not only this animal , birds ,
and we humans can not survive without
communicating with each others.

Language is not the only mode of
communication. During the time of our great
great great ancestors when there was no
language they used to communicate in there
own way by symbols..

Some of the examples of communication
which we use in our day to day life are.
Radio and Television.
We get a lot of information from radio,
television, news papers, etc about the
surroundings.
So they are nothing but the modes of
communication.

Telecommunications
Telecommunication means communication
using electronic devices such as mobile
phones satellite etc.
A basic telecommunication system
consists of three elements:-
1. A transmitter that takes information and
converts it to a signal.
2. A transmission medium that carries the
signal.
3. A receiver that receives the signal and
converts it back into usable information.

A part of telecommunication is cellular phones which
you are holding right now in your pockets.
Not only this telecommunication also involves your short
message service.. Commonly known to you as SMS.
Fiber optic communication.
Fiber-optic communication is a method of
transmitting information from one place to
another by sending pulses of light through an
optical fiber.
The process of communicating using fiber-optics
involves the following basic steps:
1. Creating the optical signal involving the use of
a transmitter.
2. Transmitting optical signal through optical
fiber.
3. receiving the optical signal, and converting it
into an electrical signal.

Optical fiber is used by many telecommunications
companies to transmit telephone signals, Internet
communication, and cable television signals.
Thus communication is a very essential part of day
to day life
Keep communicating.
