12 Things God Doesnt Want You

Doing To Yourself

1. Looking back.
2 Corinthians 5:17
17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed
away; behold, the new has come.
Its very hard to move forward when youre
carrying dead weight.
Philippians 3:1314
13
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I
do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,
14
I
press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Your past doesnt exist anymore. Theres wisdom
in learning from the past but that doesnt mean
you focus on the past.
2. Believing youre worthless.
John 3:16
For God So Loved the World
16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever
believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Youre not worthless. Believing this is like
saying Gods a lousy Investor.
Salvation is a gift from God that we can
only receive its not earned or deserved.
3. Praying with strings attached.
James 5:16
16
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one
another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has
great power as it is working.
I think weve all been guilty of asking God for help
in prayer and then going on as miserable as
before we prayed.
4. Wanting to be someone else.
2 Corinthians 10:12
12
Not that we dare to classify or compare ourselves with some of those who are
commending themselves. But when they measure themselves by one another and
compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding.
God designed you for a specific, unique,
extraordinary purpose; therefore, you are
specifically, uniquely and extraordinarily designed.
5. Talking bad about yourself. Its not
humility.
Galatians 2:20
20
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ
who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son
of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Not thinking highly of yourself is just one aspect of
humility included is this truth: we are no longer in
ourselves, we are in Christ!
6. Being depressed for days after
asking God for forgiveness.
1 John 1:9
9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

God is not man. When you ask for forgiveness He
forgives you immediately. He doesnt need a day or
two to get over it.
7. Judging unbelievers.
John 6:44
44
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I
will raise him up on the last day.
Gods word says that a) its the goodness of God that leads one to
repentance b) its the Holy Spirits job to convict the world of sin and c)
no one can come to God unless God draws and attracts that person to
Himself.
8. Running away from God after
messing up.
Matthew 11:2830
28
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29
Take
my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you
will find rest for your souls.
30
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

God is there for the good times but Hes doubly there for the bad
times.
9. Focusing on not sinning.
Ephesians 6:13
13
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able
to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
If your focus is not sinning then your focus is still on sin;
therefore, you will sin. But if youre focus is on Jesus and His
loveliness then the righteousness of God will flow through you.
10. Being scared of people.
Matthew 10:28
28
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.
Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Being overly concerned of what others think will determine just
how much God uses you and how much of God youll
experience. He doesnt want you to miss out on anything!
11. Being hard on yourself.
Joshua 1:9
9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be
frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you
wherever you go.
Mistakes are life lessons designed to help you mature and grow
in wisdom; therefore, mistakes are just as important as
successes.
12. Being unhappy.
James 1:24
Testing of Your Faith
2
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,
3
for
you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
4
And let
steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete,
lacking in nothing.
The joy that God gives us is His personal joy, supernaturally
empowering us with abundant happiness and strength!
