Most of us operate motor vehicles on a
daily basis and hardly ever pay any
attention to one of the most vital parts
of the vehicle which are our tyres.
TYRE SAFETY
2
nfortunately very few of us chan!e
this bad habit until it is too late.

"id you #now that tyres e$pire % years after the
date of manufacture and this date is stamped on
the side of the tire&
TYRE SAFETY
4
't is very easy to find out what the e$piration
date is on a tyre( if you chec# on the side of it(
you will have a % di!it number stamped on it(
this number indicates the wee# and the year it
was manufactured( the e$piration date will be
% years later.
TYRE SAFETY

This number indicates that the tyre
was manufactured on the )

date on February *+11

'f we use e$pired tyres these are li#ely to burst and
result in a very serious or even a fatal accident( it
would be a !ood practice for us to chec# our tyres
and ma#e sure they have not passed their e$piration
date

Another important point that we miss many times is proper tyre
inflation most of the !as stations in Me$ico will calibrate your tyres at
*. /S' and if you are !oin! to travel they will even in many cases brin!
your pressure down to *%0*1 /S' because they will ,heat up on the
hi!hway and the pressure will come bac# up-. "2 32T A4425 T6'S

2n the side of the tyre( you will also find the ma$imum allowable inflatin!
pressure for that specific tyre( some tires have a ma$imum pressure of 7* /S'
some are rated at %%/S' and some even at 8+ /S'. 9hec# your specific tyre to see
what the ma$imum pressure is for your tyres( it is an acceptable practice to have
your tyres a few pounds below ma$imum allowable pressure but not too much.

Another important point to consider is the
load we put on our tyres( many times we
overload our vehicles without payin! any
attention to the strain this puts on our
tyres( e$ceedin! the ma$imum load ratin!
on a tyre may also lead to tyre failure and
could result in an accident.
