Background History of the Project

1987 – Families and Children for Empowerment and


Development, Inc was organized.

1992 – FCED was registered with the Securities and


Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-stock, non
profit service foundation.
– It embarks on projects specially for street
children / youth and families in identified urban poor
area of Paco / Pandacan Manila.
– It is currently assisting total of 13 barangays, 7
of which have children sponsored and are funded
by the CCF.

relationship with a family

Every child becomes a participating and


productive member of society

Every family is empowered to manage its endeavors
to raise its productive level and meet the needs of its
members specially the children.

Every community / barangay has a set of viable,


effective community structures that are initiating,
implementing and evaluating community programs
and projects and to meet the basic needs of street
children and their families.

Empower street children and urban poor
children and their families to develop and
manage health, education, livelihood and
protection programs and services in their
respective barangays.

Provide opportunities for children, youth and


parents on value clarification and education
with particular emphasis on spiritual values and

Provide opportunities for the education, skills


training and increased income of street children,
youth and their families.
Goals
To provide a venue for participating families to
manifest attitudes that uphold the dignity of
personhood and respect the rights of women and
children.

To assist the least marginalized participating


families in meeting their basic needs of food,
clothing, and basic education for school age
children; and
Goals
To assist resident families in Paco – Pandacan
slum areas and their children in order to prevent
the proliferation of street children;

To protect at least 85% of the participating street


and urban poor children against all forms of
abuse and exploitation, hazards and conditions
prejudicial to the physical, mental, emotional,
social and moral development.
Goals
To provide the twelve (12) identified depressed barangays of
Peñafrancia and Paco a set of viable, effective community
structures (i.e., the Local Council for the Protection of Children
that are initiating, implementing and evaluating community
programs are projects to meet the needs of street children and
their families);

Motivate and families the development of self-managing


community structures and people’s organization such as the
Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) and a
cooperative association or a women’s bank.

This involves partnership and collaboration

IMMERSION POLICIES
1. Wear simple appropriate outfit. Use colored shirts
2. Women should not wear make-up
3. Avoid wearing jewelries and keep valuable such as Cell
phones, Wallets, etc.
4. Secure necessary forms related to the program such as
a. Attendance Sheet
b. Program of Action with Calendar of Activities
c. Process Recording
5. Prepare materials needed before the actual activities.
IMMERSION POLICIES
6. Be on time. Your punctuality is of great value.
7. No smoking policy is strictly applied in the center.
8. Use public transportation if possible.
9. All forms of donation (in kind, service or monetary) should be
properly coordinated in the center.
10. Field trips/educational tours are allowed only after the (5th )
meeting. Subject to the approval of the Social Worker in-
charge
11. Extension of the regular 3 hrs. immersion can only be done
after the 5th meeting only when the activity requires. Subject
to the approval of the Social Worker in-charge.
12. None official member of the group are barred from the
IMMERSION POLICIES

TIPS IN DEALING WITH
CHILDREN/PARTICIPANTS
1. Show respect, love and concern by being open and friendly.
2. Donation in kind (food, clothing, school supplies, etc.) are
allowed. NEVER give MONEY to the children
3. Do not harm or inflict any form of abuses such as pinching,
scolding or shouting.
4. Be creative and simple in approach. Use audio-visual in
tutorial and games.
5. Report unfavorable behavior of the children to the Social
Worker.
6. Be extra sensitive to the needs of the children.
TIPS IN DEALING WITH
CHILDREN/PARTICIPANTS
7. Be models of good behavior to children. Your responsibility
is to teach so that they would learn something from you.
8. Don’t make promises.
TIPS IN DEALING WITH PERSON IN
AUTHORITY
1. Be respectful and polite.
2. Make an appointment before hand and coordinate
regularly the NSTP adviser / social worker.
3. Solicit advise, suggestion and guidance if things are not
clear.
4. Be objective in giving recommendation and comments.
5. All volunteers must obey the center policies and
guidelines.
6. Ask permission from the social worker through formal
letter when the group decides to conduct outdoor
activities.
