INDIAN TRADE PROMOTION

ORGANISATION
( ITPO )
India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) is the nodal agency of the
Government of India for promoting the country's external trade.
ITPO, during its existence of nearly three decades, in the form of Trade Fair
Authority of India and Trade Development Authority, has played a proactive
role in catalysing trade, investment and technology transfer processes.
Its promotional tools include organizing of fairs and exhibitions in India and
abroad, Buyer-Seller Meets, Contact Promotion Programmes, Product
Promotion Programmes, Promotion through Overseas Department Stores,
Market Surveys and Information Dissemination.

INTRODUCTION
Organising various trade fairs and exhibitions at its exhibition complex,
Pragati Maidan, and other centres in India.
Extending the use of Pragati Maidan for holding trade fairs and exhibitions
by other fair organisers both from India and abroad.
Identifying and nurturing specific export products with long range growth
prospects.
Cultivating overseas buyers through timely and efficient services.
Establishing durable contacts between Indian suppliers and overseas buyers.
Assisting Indian companies in product development and adaptation to meet
buyers requirements.
Organising Buyer-Seller Meets and other exclusive India Shows in order to
bring buyers and sellers together.
Organising India Promotions with Department Stores and Mail Order
Houses abroad.
MAIN ACTIVITIES OF ITPO
Participating in overseas trade fairs and exhibitions.
Arranging product displays for visiting overseas buyers.
Inviting overseas buyers and organising their meetings with Indian suppliers.
Providing assistance in locating suitable foreign collaborators for transfer of
technology, joint ventures, marketing tie-ups and investment promotion.
Organising seminars/conferences/workshops.
Encouraging and involving small and medium scale units in export promotion
efforts.
Conducting in-house and need-based research on trade and export promotion.
Enlisting the involvement and support of the State Governments in India for
promotion of India's foreign trade.
Promoting establishment of facilities and infrastucture for holding trade fairs
in State Capitals or other suitable locations in India, in consultation with State
Governments concerned.

HOW TO BE A MEMBER
OF ITPO

Any exporter / manufacturer / institution / individual is eligible
to become Trade Portal Member.
MEMBERSHIP CHARGES
Membership charges are Rs. 1,686/- per annum. ( Rs. 1500/- for
membership fee and Rs. 186/- as service tax @ 12.36% w.e.f. July
1, 2007)

BENEFITS TO MEMBERS
Access to On-line Indian Export Bulletin every week containing
information on export prospects of different products in various
markets, export enquiries, trade fairs and exhibitions held in India and
abroad besides marketing information / data on various aspects of
trade and tenders on the basis of information received by ITPO.
Use of ITPO's Trade Information Centre for collecting information on
various aspects of foreign trade.
Free counselling on export prospects irrespective of products and
countries
