A practical Example
Before ERP implementation :
Employee applies on job portal ( Naukri.com etc.)
HR shortlist candidates and conducts interview.
Candidate selected -- offer letter created on word
and printed , manual entry made in employee
database .
Employee takes a leave -- entry is made into the
system manually , has to take a approval on email
from manager.
When employee resigns -- FnF done on mail and
signatures are taken on paper and submitted.
Database updated manually and marked and end
date.

After ERP implementation:
Employee applies on ERP online portal
Selected employee -- offer letter created
through ERP , entry automatically done in the
database.
User applies leaves GUI ,automatically get
updated in database and go for approval.
Employee resigns -- FnF mail goes to all using
workflow concept , just a click clears all his no
dues.
Employee gets automated mail for no dues and
database gets updated automatically.

Web services
Works on Apache. Main page where user can view
responsibilities assigned to him and his/her workflow
notifications.

Form Services
Using form user submits the concurrent
requests , for eg: Generation of employee
offer letters.

Concurrent Services
A concurrent request is fired which does the
processing. A status of running normal indicates that
your request is being addressed.




These requests can be scheduled to run periodically
without the users intervention.

Architecture













APPL_TOP : Contain product directories for all products being installed
COMMON_TOP : Directories contain Files common to all the products like HTML Pages
etc.
10.1.2 Home : Contains configuration file of Forms, report builder
10.1.3 Home : Contains configuration file of Apache, JVM , and logs for Apache and JVM.
INST_TOP : Contains all the instance related configuration files. Request log and output
files. Startup-shutdown scripts etc.

Installation Options
Setup has 2 parts Apps and DB
Same server ( node) or multi node.
App same node or multi node
DB - single node or RAC.
For practice installation can be done on 8
Gb RAM , 4 core , 100 Gb HDD system.
Can be very well integrated with SOA ,
SSO , Load Balancer etc.

Start and stop the services
To Start :

1.) Start the database :
cd ORACLE_HOME / appsutil/scripts /SID_hostname
addbctl.sh start PROD
addlnctl.sh start PROD

2. )Start the application:
cd $INST_TOP/admin/scripts
./adstrtall.sh apps/appspwd

To Stop :

1.)Stop the application :
./adstpall.sh apps/appspwd

2. Stop the database :
addbctl.sh stop PROD
addlnctl.sh start PROD

Licensing is done per module with a minimum number
of users that have to be purchased.

RAC , partitioning are charged separately.
