A Breast Cancer Awareness initiative by International Oncology

Some Hard facts
Breast Cancer - One of the most common types
of cancers.

India stands first in mortality due to Breast
Cancer as compared to other countries.

Breast cancer accounts for about 29.7% of all
cancers among the women in Mumbai.







The incidence of breast cancer has been on the
rise specially among urban women.

Therefore it becomes imperative to educate
people about the potentially fatal disease.

The month of October has been ear marked
specially for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Some Hard facts
Keeping this in mind, International Oncology
Cancer Center at Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital
has been organizing Walk for Life for the past
few years.

This year too, the Walk for Life is being
organized on the 19
th
of October 2014.







Purpose
To raise awareness regarding the increasing
prevalence and risk factors associated with
Breast Cancer.

A show of solidarity and support to those fighting
for life against Breast Cancer and to break
myths and taboos about the ailment.

Encourage women to be more expressive and
forthcoming regarding health issues in general
and Breast cancer in particular.

Itinerary
Date 19
th
October 2014.

Time - 7:30 am onwards.

A walk from Heritage Garden, through Powai
and back, covering a distance of 3 km.

Corporate Awareness Talks in the run up to the
event starting October.
Speeches by eminent personalities from the
healthcare sector and expert advice from
oncologists.
Breast Cancer survivors will also be sharing their
experiences.
