TOOL USED:
Ti-6Al-4V alloy bar( 40300mm)
TOOL INSERTS:
PVD TiAIN coated tungsten carbide tool inserts of ISO CNMG 120408 MP1-
KC5010(Kennametal) under wet and cryogenic conditions.

TOOL HOLDER:
ISO PCLNR 2020 K12(Kennametal)

CUTTING PARAMETERS:
Depth of cut- 1mm
Feed rate- 0.159mm/rev
Cutting velocities- 27,40,63 and 97 m/min
CUTTING FLUID PARAMETERS:
Cryogenic coolant- liquid Nitrogen
Conventional coolant- 1:20

Modification of cutting tool insert by EDM
Rake surface hole dimension- 2mm2.5mm
Flank surface hole dimension- 1mm2mm

CONCLUSIONS
1. Reduced cutting temperature by 61-66%

2. Decreased cutting force by 35-42%

3. Reduced surface roughness and tool wear to a
maximum of 35% and 39% respectively
