Background

Historically, Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has acted as the

custodian of the E&P data for Oman.
Recent increase in exploration activity has brought to light shortcomings in
this approach, e.g.:
Potential conflicts between PDOs role as an operator vs. its role as the data
custodian
Increased volume of data requests from the new Operators

December 14

In order to preserve (and optimise the value of) the E&P data, Ministry of Oil
& Gas (MOG) initiated a project to build, populate and operate a National
Data Repository, independent of any operator, for and on behalf of the
Sultanate of Oman, and regulated by MOG.
