Drive Test Equipment

There could be many reason for poor Performance like
Radio Conditions
UE Category & Performance
Measurements tool & Settings
TCP/IP Settings in PC
Nemo Script (e.g. wait time related to PDP context activation)

Server location and settings

HLR QoS Profile
Network Configuration and Parameters

Drive test Performance

The Drive Test tool with multiple UEs, Scanner and GPS can be used
The Scanner measures all used carriers/cells and their corresponding DL
scrambling codes,
UE only measures SC signals from the cells that the system has informed/ordered
the UE through the BCH (neighbour list) or via the measurement control msg.
UE:
RSCP Active/Monitored Set
Carrier RSSI
Ec/No Active/Monitored Set
UL/DL Data Throughput
The BLER downlink
Pilot BER
Random Access Initial Tx Power
Random Access Preamble Count & Step
SIR target (UE dependent)
UE Tx Power
Call Statistic: AMR, CS and PS data calls

Scanner:
For low coverage areas
For Antenna Installation problems
For Missing neighbours
For Coverage optimisation
With Scanner you can get following info from
the surrounding cells:
Different Scrambling codes
CPICH RSCP value (dBm)
CPICH EcNo value (dBm)

UE Performance HSDPA
UE Category has impact for the
throughput performance

DATA

Active Set Update to add new

target cell to AS
Physical Channel Reconf. to
Reconfigure the HS-DPCCH in
the new target cell for UL
signaling- (not happening in case
Intra BTS-SCC)

After reserving resources in the

new target cell RNC sends the
Radio bearer reconfiguration
message to the UE

After receiving the first HS-DSCH

packet from the target cell the UE
send the Radio bearer
reconfiguration complete message to
the RNC, which can release
resources from the source cell
