obtain the values of Latching and Holding currents.

Two SCRs are connected across the centertapped secondary, as shown in the above figure.
The gate signal for both SCRs are supplied from
two circuits which control the gate supply.
One SCR conducts in the positive half cycle and
the other SCR conducts in the negative half cycle.
Thus current through the load will be
unidirectional.
The most important aspect of SCR's controlled
rectification is that the rectification process and
hence the output DC voltage can be controlled
using the Gate supply control circuits.

AC voltage controller
O To study and analyze the operation and observe

the waveforms of an A.C. Voltage controller with

different load.
(i) AC-AC power conversion topologies at fixed
frequency
(ii) Power converter options available for the
conversion
(iii) Ability to formulate equations describing the
current waveform for the PAC
(iv) Ability sketch the current waveform by
observation of the circuit
(v) Ability to assess the performance of the converter
of the topologies

Fully Controlled Converter

O To study and analyze the operation of a

fully controlled converter with different

loads.
Normally this is used in various applications
such as battery charging, speed control of
DC motors and front end of UPS
(Uninterruptible Power Supply) and SMPS
(Switched Mode Power Supply).

Half controlled converter

O

To study and analyze the operation of a half

controlled converter with different loads.
