PERSUASIVE WRITING

What is persuasive
writing?
Type

of writing that sets out to


influence or change the readers
thoughts or actions to agree with
those of the writer

Where

are they found?

In advertisements in the real world


In argumentation essays in the

What does it do?


Uses

logic and reason to show


one idea is more legitimate and
true compared to another
Attempts to persuade reader to
adopt a certain point of view or
take a particular course of action

How does it persuade?


Uses

sound reasoning and gives


evidence by stating facts, giving
logical reasons, citing examples
and quoting experts
Also a deliberate effort to avoid
the logical fallacies (Topic 4 pg 49
51) trying to persuade
someone based on a bad piece of
reasoning
